Yes I have spliced boo  backing together. I used a 2 inch z splice.

Wow, there is a lot of piling on Roybert in this thread. Poor guy is going to think we don't love him or something.

Roy,

Will osage pin knots affect a trilam as they do a selfbow?  My billets have a few that I don't think can get around.

Depends on the grain cut. I use 1/4 or rift sawn boards. You don't want a pin knot running across the belly laterally. I always seek out the best piece of wood I can.

Well Boggs called,  my rasps are done. They took my credit card # over the phone. Should be tillering the bow by Saturday. I'll start a new thread for the tillering since so many of my good friends have chimed in here and stretched this thread out to 5 pages of harassment... LOL  :)

It's really more like a weak massage than a thumpin.

Roy, could you also glue the riser up at the same time you clamp up the lams?

Nice side profile.

If you really wanted to, you probably could, but it would change the deflex of the bow having a long 13" riser in there at glue up. Depending on where I place the mid limb posts decides how much deflex I get. So each glue up could yield a little different arc in the bows riser section before I put the riser block on. Putting the riser block in at the same time is going to keep the center of the bow more flat, and not let that area bend.

Might get away with gluing a riser at the same time if you used numerous thin slats that would bend easily. It would still straighten the riser section, but not nearly as much. Just a thought.

Ha, they called again,  seems they mailed the wrong rasps. So when that package gets here, I have to refuse it, and my rasps are in the mail. I just laughed.
That the picture of canopygirl ya took last time he was at your house? LOL
