Finally got my first accents glued up... Came out awesome! I just wish they were a little bolder. I think when I shape it and clear it then it should help... Gonna glue up the other accents tomorrow!

Thanks guys I got the other accents in and it's cooking away for another two hours... May be able to mate the limbs with the riser this week! That's a little nerve racking though... Not ever doing it before.

Well today I was able to get the belly accent in and I am very pleased with how the glue lines look. No major flaws in it and no glue showing which is a bonus.

However I wish I went with a full 2 inch riser to begin with instead of only 1.5. I am not sure if I will be able to do as much arcs in the riser as I wanted but since it is my first I will wait and see the final results.

Can you guys give me some advice about mounting the limbs please. I have never done this and boring holes into a beautiful riser is a little on the hairy side for me... Thanks everyone!

Granted the riser is upside down in the picture because it is the only side that is cleaned up. I may add some overlays directly on the limb pads so that I have a seamless blend on it but I haven't fully made up my mind as of yet. I will get it all cleaned up first and then look at my options.

The riser looks good! As far as drilling the mounting hardware- do you have a jig or are you going to find your center lines and drill them with a drill press?

Trux I am using the OMC drilling jig. I just don't know where on the limb pad to drill the holes. I found the center for my riser and limb pads and checked the jig which automatically centers it perfectly!

Looking good! I will generally put the center of the alignment pin at 1/2" down from the end of the riser. This gives you more room at the limb butt to blend into your riser without having your limb bolts too close to the end of the limb. That OMC jig is a great tool, and works perfectly. Just be careful with the limb bolt hole, as the bolts tend to be very snug! Don't get too carried away with trying to make the bolts slip through the hole as you will wind up with some slop, and a limb tip that doesn't automatically bolt down to center.
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.

Justin- on my risers I put the pin 1 1/4" up from the end and the bolt is at 3 1/4"s. On the limbs the bolt so 1 1/8" from th butt end- my riser pad is 4". Sounds like you have a nice jig so that will simplify things for you.

Thanks guys. I actually called OMC Bowyer Supplies and spoke with Jim who was extremely helpful.

I got the hardware all installed and have some minor tweaking to do when I draw out my limbs. I have still a little width to help me with making sure everything is square.
