I'm back and a couple of bows
« on: October 22, 2015, 09:24:00 PM »
Here are a couple of bows I finished up while I've been gone. Built these for a couple of friends in Nebraska. Cocobolo and maple risers, one with quilted maple overlays and the other cocobolo overlays.
51# at 28" 63" nock to nock hickory laminations under black glass.

I had modified an earlier design when I built the two above and guessed at the lam thickness. Ended up way heavier than my scale would read. So had to make a new set of limbs but I couldn't just let these go to waste. I sanded the width down to 1" and put them on an old 17" riser with a 9 degree pad angle. She ended up 64" nock to nock and 67# at 28". Smokes my 675 grain arrows at 188 fps.
I'm going to have to hide this thing before I hurt myself trying to shoot it.
Here's the FD curve and chrono results.

Wow- very nice! I like the hidden bolts for the limbs and they look like shooters based off the fd curves.

Jess supertiller makes my brain sweat but it sure is fun. Man there are so many different steps and ways to work with it I'll have to give it some thought on how to explain and show some of the steps.

Roy I gave up smoking the flowers years ago thank God or I'd really be a pain in the posterior.
I've left the holes open so far as I haven't found a convenient and clean way to cover them. Still working on ideas.
