This is a paper mache project I started about a year ago with a bit of the evolution to get where I am with it today. The figure is 11" tall on the stand and 12" tall overall.
So, here he is as of now...
As many of my projects go I've changed directions a bit. I received some nice scraps of brain tanned leather from Nclonghunter(thanks again Lyman) that I was going to make a buckskin outfit for this guy. After a few attempts it just didn't look right. Looked more like a dressed up doll than a figure of a Woodland hunter. My other option and my original thoughts were to make it all with paper mache. Well, that's what I did and it is a 100% improvement. Just the way his buckskins hang on him now is definitely more realistic. I have made his quiver, possible bag and neck knife sheath from brain tanned leather, but I'm still not sure about the quiver. I'm contemplating a woven basket style quiver. The arrows are cane(bamboo skewers) with Eastern Woodland, sinew wrapped 2 fletch(real turkey feathers) with a paper mache arrowhead(also with sinew wrap). His hawk head is also paper mache and sinew wrapped. His neck knife is made with rawhide with a sinew wrapped handle. The 2 feathers on his braid are actual turkey feathers, cut from the very end of the feather and shaped to size. His belt is braided hemp cord.
I still have a lot of finish work to do and may make a few other changes but I'll study him for a while, from all angles to be sure it all looks right.
