Static tip recurve - finally done
« on: December 27, 2015, 12:48:00 PM »
I was finally able to finish this one. Lol only started it in Aug.   It's pulling 65 at 28 inch.  Woods are yew under the glass and the riser is yew, ipe, and black limba.   Wanted to say a big thank you to Wayne.  Wouldn't have been able to do this one without his help and his forms and designs.

Man thats short, what length is it? Dang nice work bending those tips.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

It's 48 inch long. The static portion of the tips is birch with deer antler as the tip overlays.

Very nice Cody! I believe I own Wayne's first prototype of this bow, and I'm sure you're going to like this one more and more as you get acquainted with it. Great design and great execution!
Watch for limb twist, these are some Wiley ones.

IIRC Wayne chronographed the first one at something like 210fps so you know it should have some cast.

Love it! How does it shoot? Much trouble with it being so short?

Beautiful work. Do the higher arrow speeds have something to do with the static tips?

Being stiff non moving the tips add way more whip to the limb.  Increases fps speeds

I don't notice any extra noise but I already added beaver balls onto my string.
