No just throwing power bait to last year's stockers. It's only five minutes from the house and always abig deal with the kids. It's Arvada Reservoir.  The city's water supply.

I didn't catch anything!

Square head steamer. In order to steam a half stave at a time I made this one. Insulated PVC pipe one meter long, worked like a charm, after half an hour the stave bent nicely.

Straightening out sideways bend, compensating for some spring back on this Yew stave cut in 2005.

cool!
I saw a neat vid a while back (someone may have posted it here), a ship builder was using long plastic "bags" almost like a meat vacuum packing bag for steaming.

Started on a set of ILF limbs today, Zebrawood wedge and veneers, amberboo tapers. The veneer has a few "eyes" in it, not so much in this piece but I have another with a bunch of eyes..saving it for a later project..

I've been working on a jig to grind risers.  I free-handed the hole and cut a donut out of a propane bottle for the guide.

I'll be practicing on some scrap wood!

While researching the sirius riser on another forum I found that Lancaster Archery had a rh victor riser on sale for $29.99 so I ordered one. Got my victor riser this morning and put my 50# sage limbs on it. They fit perfect and bolt right in. I only had a string that was 1" too long so the brace height is too low. It appears to make a 66" to 67" bow. Had to run so only did a quick FD curve and will build a new string tomorrow and get a new FD curve and if its clear I'll shoot it through the chrono. I may have found a way to get rid of these sage limbs. Wish they would have had a left handed one because the limb pad angle would work with my longbow limbs
Here's a picture of the riser from lancaster its a 24" riser and a picture of the fd curve which I will redo once I have time to build a shorter string.

OK I built a new string and the bow ended up at 66" nock to nock and 49.43 lbs at 28". The six shot average with fingers and 28" draw was 165 fps with a 510 grain arrow for 10.32 gr per pound. It has a 12 strand 63" UltraCam string. Brace height was 7.5". It would make a good cheap starter bow or an upgrade from a youth bow. Stats and FD curve

Went to see a house on an acre of nice land this afternoon. Then I threw my work clothes into the wash and sorted through my turkey hunting gear. I can't wait till next weekend when my buddies gather at turkey camp for the opening week.    :archer:
After my gear was sorted, I did some indoor shooting at my turkey target. Hopefully, I'll have a bird come into my comfort zone next week.
