I got permission to cut a Hophornbeam tree on a coworker's property and walked a portion of it today. I found a handful of nice ones. I'll probably go in there with a saw next month. I saw a lot of deer sign in there too.

had a good day yesterday.
Spent some time in the water.
Fam got out their bows for a while.
Ended up around the fire making smores and can cobbler.
Damn good day that was a long time coming.

I decided since I need to check my cameras I'd just go ahead and hog hunt while I was there. Walked outside to my truck to get something and it was freakin HOT! So I walked back thru the house and out the back door and jumped in the pool and thought "What the heck was I thinking!!!!"    :knothead:

Stopped this morning and got permission off a farmer across the road to catch some snappers out of his pond.

Then I skinned a couple snakes and stretched them and some carp skins to boards to dry. I worked an osage stave down to a single heartwood ring, then a buddy of mine stopped up and we critiqued the tiller on a snakey osage selfbow he's working on.

I pickled a couple of jars of mushrooms this morning, whipped up a cup of barbecue sauce in anticipation of dinner tonight. Then I dumped a load of work clothes in the washer and glued up a bow while it worked. After that, I prepared a set of lams for another bow before grilling a couple of nice rib steaks. MMMMMMM!
Now I think I'll work on shooting in my swap bow after dinner settles a bit.
I like days like this.    :archer:

Sounds like you've been busy Jeff, made me tired just reading about it.  Hope you find some nice hophornbeam, next to osage, it's the best you can get in this area.
