I just smoked the motor on my bandsaw, so taking opportunity to upgrade from 1 hp to 1.5hp. Should have new motor late next week.

Finishing this bow up. Sprayed the first coat of Thunderbird on it and I really like how it came out. Super smooth with very little issues. Wet sanded the bow with 1000 grit paper and will spray it with flat tomorrow. Hoping a new bow may turn my luck around for the last couple weeks of my hunting season...it has been a tough one yet again!
Specs:
58 tip to tip
54# @28 inches
bacote back
cocobolo belly
cocobolo/bacote riser with curly maple accents
curly myrtle overlays
horn tips

I should of had gloves on... Dang piece of bamboo took off while sanding the back on the edge sander. And naturally I had to hang onto it so it didn't get damaged..

I hope you're ok buddy!
I have to say, a sander with some coarse grit belt is dangerous . May not cut as deep as a saw but removes material very quickly.....

That's the kind of blood trail you want to see in the woods, not in your shop. Hope your ok Roy.

LOL Dan, that's only half the blood trail in the shop..
I'm fine.. No stitches, just 3 deep cuts on the hand from holding onto the bamboo when it took off. That boo gets pretty sharp along the edges when ya taper it down. And ole dumb a$$ Roy didn't put on his gloves. Wife patched me up with butterfly bandages... Then gave me hell...

She's a good woman for that...lol
Glad to hear it wasn't too serious.
That boo can be like razors.

Actually, Dan. If I don't get cut at least once a day in the shop, then I know I haven't done much bow work..

Damn Roy, when I saw that picture, it gave me the shivers. There is something about bamboo cuts that gets me.

Maple backed ipe. Hoping to come in #50 ish
Let the scraping begin.
Eyes, legs and fingers crossed!
I did pick up a few good slivers.
