Wow, haven't tuned in for awhile and things are moving. I've got a bow for my victim glued up and roughed. Time to cut it in half and see if I can put it back together again.

Roy it use to be mink silenced women or something like that or thats what men thought

Horn chaser looks like a great start I bet a bit heavy is fine for most.

Roy glad to hear you are getting well. Heck requesting your hunting weight bows this early might not be good. I mean 20# that was the top of your request if I remember right.

Last year my uncle gave me a 25 inch drum sander. Today was the firt time i used it. Grinding lams. All i could think was... Where has this thing been my whole life. I love it.
So, i got my lams finished up, and my riser glued, and cut out. Wont be long now before i have a bow for my guy.

Finally got the pics of my bow uploaded, lots of problems with photobucket.  So here we go, it's osage, 65" ttt, somewhere between 40 an 80# at 28", timber rattler skins, with black mesquite tip overlays.  I'll let the recipient do the full draw shot.

I finally got my riser cut out and sanded. Osage and pau ferro. I hope my victim will like it. It's the first time I used smooth on and a glass I beam. The bandsaw blade screamed like a banshee going through that stuff.

Yeah, I'm now the proud owner of a fiberglass only blade.    :)   It was a dull one anyway. I have another for wood cutting only.
Nice looking bow Dan! I got called away earlier and hit post before I was really done.

Very nice bow Dan.

I just finally got another day off work and able to work on my victims bow. It was 15 lbs over what they requested so I put the bow on a diet  :) . I narrowed the bows width from 1.5 inches wide to its now 1.25 width. After that the bow is about 5 lbs to heavy still but after final sanding it won't be much over the requested weight. I was worried about losing stability in the limbs narrowing them that much on the recurve design but it is still pretty stable. In fact I think it helped boost the performance in the design. Going to sand on it some more and take it out to the shop tomorrow and see how it performs on the chronograph.

Got some more work done sanding the bow and got it to my victims specs on weight today.  After getting the weight on the bow took it out and tested it on the chrono . I was shooting a 502 grain arrow and getting 175 fps out of the bow.
I need to do a little more sanding and shaping on the riser as it continues to come along nicely now. When I get the bow finished sanding I will be using some of this rat rod auto urethane to protect the bow.
