Skinny Mimi
« on: January 31, 2016, 02:39:00 PM »
This is a bow I'm making for a special trade on PA. The stave was a skinny splinter I got off of another stave. It is 60"tt, 3/4" at the widest at the handle and I left a ring of sapwood on the back. I have it to low brace and she pulls about 36#@16", my target weight is around 50#@26" so I have plenty of wood to make my target weight.
 Here are a few pics...

Wow, that is skinny indeed!  Looking forward to seeing the finished bow.
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

That's cool. Amazing what you can do with a bit of osage.

Yeah, this is gonna be fun. She should really spit an arrow when done. I'll kick up the tips a bit too, but later.
David, we had 12" of snow and sleet over 36 hours. My lower driveway still has 6" in some places but it was 60 today and for the next few days with above freezing nights. Pretty rare for here where we live.

Thanks Roy. I haven't built a bow in over a year and this should be a good one to get the ball rolling again.

Pat, I might have a snake belly skin that would work great on a narrow stave like that.  I'll have to check the length on it.  I'll donate it to your build if you want.
