Timber Rattler Bow
« on: February 20, 2016, 10:37:00 PM »
Here's a new bow I finished. Its a sinew-backed horn belly bow. It's a 56" Osage, 51# @28. Its a smooth shooter. Hope you guys like it. And for the hell of it, there's a picture of my new quiver I finally finished. I've got to stop starting to many projects, I got to many waiting on me!

Very nice bow. Is that water buffalo horn on the belly?   What glue(s) did you use for the composite?

That is water buffalo on this one. However I prefer oryx, that was just the last set of water buffalo I had. I just used smooth-on to glue it on.

so does the horn have a higher compressive strength than the osage?- or would it be better served on a lower quality core wood?

Thanks guys for the kind words.

fujimo-Horn has a very high compressive strength. I think of it as a "primitive" laminated bow. Sinew, wood, horn.
