54" recurve pau ferro
« on: February 29, 2016, 08:44:00 PM »
Pau ferro recurve. Been working on these 54" lately and I am really liking them. They are smooth and hit hard.

Wow Chris!  Look great.    :notworthy:

Your glue lines look perfect on the ramps up your riser.  How do you manage that?  I have troubles getting mine to fit sometimes.

Thanks y'all.

David, I usually use a .001 taper or parallel on the belly and it is usually at least .08 or thinner so it will flex more easily in the tight curve of the belly ramp. I also use packing tape to tape down the whole riser section when I lay it up on the form before I put the air hose on it just to make sure that there aren't any gaps before I air it up and to prevent the riser and limbs from shifting any

Thanks again y'all.

I ran a .003 on this one with a 16" riser and 7" tip wedge. I'm building one now with a 14" riser and .002 taper with nothing in it to see how it's going to act

That is one sweet looking bow there.  May I ask where you got the veneers.  Sure nice looking, congrats on a job well done.   :notworthy:

Beautiful!
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

This one has a 7" tip wedge in it. It starts stacking right after 27". Goes from 63@27 to 67@28. I made another one with a 6" tip wedge that didn't start stacking until after 28". It was 57@28 and 61.5@29. I'm still tweaking this design so I think it still has some more potential
