Today I'm using some minwax wipe on oil based gloss on an ASL.  Up to four coats and it's ok, but I like Tru Oil better.

6 coats of MinWax wipe-on polly with sanding between each coat of gloss then several coats of spray satin will give you a fantastic finish.

I've tried minwax wipe on and I can't say I like it at all. I've used spray poly which has worked well but I'm ordering 8oz of truoil to try it with armorall.
