New 2 me Blackwidow Longbow Coming (Man Law)
« on: March 07, 2008, 03:31:00 PM »
Hey guys, I am very excited about a new used bow I am getting (On it's way to me). It is a Black Widow LX Longbow 56#@28 and 64". I shot a Used LAG (1 pc circa 1999 bow) a fews years ago at Cloverdale and liked it a lot. BW was there too so I and was able to shoot a new PL series side by side to compare. The distance was only 10 yards so they seemed to shoot about the same cast but I figured at 20 yards the PL would be flatter. Anyhow I liked them both BUT I really liked that LAG grip.  I know you can still get that old grip but I figured why pay list when you can get a used one. Well I looked for a long time and let a few slip by. Finally decided on this one.... I am sure I will like it. This bow being an LX has the boo limb cores so that should make it faster than the LAG I shot. Also this is a 2003 bow with the Talon take down so that is a double plus to me.

Looks like antler on the limb tip, that is something I've never seen on a Widow.  That's a great looking bow.  I've always liked cocobolo.

I've owned a couple LAG's, picked up a PLX with a LAG grip last year.  You can't go wrong with either bow.  Great shooters.

Great looking bow.I got a 2006 PL-V TD and your grip does looks more like a lag grip than the one on mine.Does the 2003 model have carbon under the veneers on back?Curious

Mike, I was hoping someone who had both an LAG and a PL might chime in. I wish I could have shot the bows at Cloverdale from a greater distance to observe the cast more. Do you think this LX with boo cores will shoot with the PL?

Thanks,
Bill

I have owned several (LAG, LIW, PLV, PLX Kingwood , TD PLX Osage and Tulipwood) but never shot them side by side or chrono'd them Bill.  Enjoy your new bow!

Eric, I don't think it has carbon. Just bamboo cores. Yes it has the old grip and that was what I wanted because it feels good to me. Also since I like a heavier bow riser (like my PSA), with this Talon TD I think it will feel good in the hand.

Bill, I couldn't say for sure.  I know you'll like that bow though.

Nice, Bill. I love my PLX. I also like the looks of that grip. Is it bigger than the normal PL grip? DAVE

Big'n - That is the same grip they used on their first LB's LAG, LIW and first short recurve - the SAG.

I got my bow today and it is quite a shooter. I only have 8 yards in my garage and shot there tonight. After I set the brace ht and nock point I was wacking arrows. I cannot wait to try it at 20 yards. This LX is very smooth and quiet.
