How much sanding can you do on glass limbs?

So I started my first refinish on a T/D.  I got all the finish off the riser and it has turned out great with about 6 coats of wipe on poly so far.  On the limbs, I was scared to sand too much and risk reducing weight or affecting tiller.  However, now that I've done a few coats of finish on them...I can easily see that I did not get all of the old finish off.

How much is "too much" sanding on glass limbs before I start changing the characteristics of the bow?  I'd rather have ugly finish than lose poundage or mess up the tiller.  Thanks for any help!

If you are just sanding dings and scratches I would start with 150 grit and take equal stokes off of each limb starting at the riser end and sanding towards the tip. You won't effect tiller if you sand the limbs in equal amounts. After you finish with 150 you can finish up with 220 grit. You would be surprised at how much you actually have to sand before you start reducing the weight. You should be safe doing 20 or so strokes back and belly with 150 grit and at least that many with 220. When I build a bow and try and reduce weight or bring the tiller in I sand as follows 80,100,150and then finish off with 220grit I hope this helps.
