Primitive Yew longbow
« on: August 19, 2016, 11:32:00 AM »
Some of you may have saw this on PA, but thought I would share my first solo yew selfbow. My first was built during a workshop and I have also made a board maple bow as my first. This one is by far the nicest and my favorite to shoot. 60lbs at 28". 66" ttt. Very basic handle, I guess kind of Hill style. Antler for the rest and tip overlays. No grip, I like to see and feel the wood:) Thanks for looking!

Good looking bow!
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

Nice work, looks to be bending a bit more in the inner limbs, and I think you could probably narrow the tips more if desired, but overall nice bow. I Would never mess with that bow, looks good, just some constructive criticism to think about on the next one.

BTW there's seems to be something attached to your back ...

Thanks for the feedback LittleBen. I am always looking for help with the process. I have shot this bow a ton and I am really liking it, so I have no plans on changing a thing! Yes there is something on my back. My little girl. She is now 15 months and she comes stumpshooting with me everytime I go out. Moms at work, we are shooting arrows! And thanks for the support fujimo   :knothead:  lol
