Bloodwood for limbs?
« on: March 08, 2008, 12:01:00 AM »
Just curious to see if anyone had used bloodwood as a limb material, I've been considering having a bow made using bloodwood for the limbs.  Any info would be good, pictures would be even better.  Thanks!

Al,

If you are talking an all-natural bow, bloodwood will make a great bow.  It can be a heartbreaker though in that it has a tendency to give up at the least opportune moment.  I haven't seen it used in glass bow limbs.  It's pretty but heavy.  Not normally a good combo for a fast, smooth bow.

Mike,

Thanks - I was thinking that bloodwood would look really good under clear glass, but if it doesn't perform, I'm going to have to go another route.  Thanks!
