Dumb question: Is the NTN of a recurve measured in a straight line or does it follow the curve of the limbs?

Thanks. I thought I'd try my hand at building a recurve tri-lam. I had one almost tillered a couple of years ago and it went off like a stick of dynamite. I hope I have better luck this time.

It certainly got my heart rate up! I still don't know where all the pieces ended up. I'm just glad I didn't eat any.
