Crooked Stic

I hate you   :D  Very nice osage. For me I see a lot of riser blocks.
High on Archery.

Carpdaddy

Glued some lams together...

And cut out a riser...

Nice haul

John got me fired up, so

I'v been working on and off on this one, so I finished up the tiller/Tips/handle and glued on some Copperheads.

I'v had this Billet for 2 years, It was narrow.
I did a V splice and had to add wood to the belly of the handle and I going to add to both sides.
The widest place now is 3/4"

Roy that sounds painful, I hope they get you fixed up tomorrow..so far I am just sore, I have some meds if it gets worse. I need to work on a bow but I better stay out of the shop for now till I feel better.

wood carver 2

Roy, I can carve you up a nice set of wooden choppers. I have a nice piece of zebra wood in the shop. Or maybe purpleheart!    ;)

I cut, shaped and feathered a long bow riser for a bow for my cousin.  Curly maple.  Lots of sanding by hand to avoid the dips between the curls.

Last trip to the dentist left me with two less teeth.  On super bowl Sunday one of my daughters complained of a tooth ache and lamented that she has to chew on one side of her mouth.  I told her "heck, I have a lifetime commitment to that".

I am healing up from getting a tooth cut out tuesday. I have a bow to finish but don't think I can spray finish on the meds.. So I made a Cigar Box 4 string Guitar yesterday and today, I still need to peel off a couple of white warning labels and cut strings... Now I need guitar lessons.. I put a Piezo disk under the bridge, I also bought a Line 6 15 watt amp. it sounds good but I can't play a lick. I'm gonna build another one after I get the bow spray finished.

Feathered another riser.  This one is wenge, the wood I love to hate!

Also built and tested an arrow tapering jig.  Works great.  Don't know why I didn't do it long ago.

Also tried to repair a 1/2 horse electric motor that wouldn't start.  It started and ran for 30 seconds and then blew a cloud of stinky smoke.

scrub-buster

I really like that guitar.  That's on my to do list.  I can't play either though.

Today I cleaned up some old snakey staves.  Osage is some amazing wood.  It can be laying on the ground for many years and still have solid bow wood just under the surface.  This one is wide enough to get 2 bows out of it.
