Worked on my bow oven. Got the box built with a front loading door. Got it all wired up to run 3-200watt bulbs. Still need to get the door sealed up and latches put on so I can  give it a test run and see what temp it hits.

I was in my bow shop taking the sapwood off of some osage staves this evening.  I heard the garage door open which means my wife and daughter were home.  As I walked to the door of my shop I heard the engine rev up and then a big crash.  The wall came flying in at me and I jumped out of the way.  She stepped on the gas peddle instead of the brake.  She has her learners permit.  I keep my firewood in 2 barrels just outside my shop.  I had a couple buckets of kindling in front of them.  Luckily those barrels absorbed a lot of the impact.  If those weren't there she would have gained more speed and hit the wall with more force.  I'm sure I would have been injured.  I was pretty angry and she was really upset.  It did some damage to the car.  My workshop wall wasn't to hard to fix.  I was able to take a big sledge hammer and knock it back into place.  It's not as straight as it was before but its good enough.  My door opens and closes so that's good.

Cars and walls are easily fixed. People are a little trickier. I'm glad nobody was hurt.

Stuff happens when they are learning.

When one of my girls was 14 we were going somewhere and she begged me to let her back the car out of the garage. I said " OK, but don't do anything before I get out there". Next thing I heard was a huge ripping sound.  When I got there she had gone ahead and started without me and hooked the bumper onto the garage door frame and ripped it out to a 45 deg angle.

I couldn't find her anywhere but eventually she turned up hiding under my bed.   :biglaugh:

Course it had to be 10 deg and snowing!

Many years later we laugh about it.  You will too.   :)

Robert, I like the guitar. Always wanted to build one, well more specifically an electric bass guitar, maybe soon.

Clint, that's scary. Glad no one was hurt.

x2.

Second daughter now has her driver's license, and so for we've only smashed up one car in the process. Fingers crossed they do better than I did. I took out my grandma's carport at 14 after convincing her I knew what I was doing.

I got the snaky bow all cleaned up and floor tillered yesterday.  It has a bit of a ring check that I am sorta worried about.  We'll see how she does.

This is gonna be my first Torges style bow in a long time.  I forgot how much I love the aesthetic of that rounded belly and bulbous handle.

Here's a quick video of my heat-bending part of the wonky limb.  Of course the heat bending is more in the style of Gary Davis of Rattlesnake Bows.  I just don't have my steam tube anymore.

Take a kid hunting!

I finished this bow on the tree yesterday, then had Kenny shoot it in. After he shot it a few times, I said do you like it, he said yes. I said that's good because it's yours... LOL

No feeling like giving a bow to someone who will appreciate it.
