New bandsaw
« on: January 16, 2017, 01:18:00 AM »
In preparation of this years bow swap I bought myself a bandsaw I found on craigslist. It's a Japanese made AMT 14" with a 1hp motor.

That looks like it will work just fine.  Get the guides adjusted and put a sharp blade on it.  Did you get a good deal the saw?

$150, but it was almost 100 miles away. After gas it still only cost me $180.. Felt like a good deal and I'm already familiar with these saws so I went for it.

That is a great deal for sure. Like was mentioned above, - good tune up and a good blade and it will do anything and everything you could need for now building.

$150 for a 14" saw with a 1hp motor.  Sounds like a really good deal.  What kind of blades are you going to put on it?  I've been buying Olson blades off the big auction site for $12 each with free shipping

you gutys ever look into the stellite blades- they are set up like a carbide with the tips welded on, except these are about 1/2 the price- and are easily resharpenable, as its not carbide- so dont need a diamond wheel.- with 10 to 14 resharpens per blade!

we use them on our big resaws- and they really cut well- not as nicely as a carbide- but way nicer than a set tooth blade.

Nice saw.  Looks just like my old Grizzly except for the color.  That sucker should make some sawdust.
