Unibond 800 shelf life
« on: February 09, 2017, 06:16:00 PM »
I have some Unibond 800 that has been refrigerated for about a year and a half and am not sure if I should use it or not. If anybody can chime in on its shelf life that would be great. Also I am going to be getting some DAP weldwood Plastic Resin for a project on my house and would like to know if anybody has any experience using it on bows. If the Unibond is no good and I can use the Weldwood then great because I can get it locally.

If it have been in the refrigerator and the resin's consistency is still like maple syryp it should be good. If it thickens up so it cannot be poured it is bad.
Unibond is supposed to cure at 70 degrees, but I had to go a bit higher to get good results.
Some info can be found here.

Agree with Buemaker.
The newest info is once to store it in the freezer.
It doesn't freeze and just needs to " thaw " a little to use.

Last year I bought two new cans of unibond. When I opened them they were solid.
The company replaced them.

Now my vendor stopped carrying them because they won't replace bad ones.
Moving to smooth on for even my wood bows.
