Wheel paint test.(update)
« on: March 25, 2017, 10:08:00 AM »
A while ago Ben told us about this wheel paint, so I wanted to give it a try. I could not get the same brand he used, but found another. Yesterday I sprayed a strip of sanded aboo a couple of times and an hour later It was hard and I flexed it severly without any cracking. Today I hit it with a hammer to see If the finish would crack in the dents, but it did not, se picture.
Today I wanted to see if this stuff would adhere to bowglass so after sanding with 180 grit I sprayed the glass strip 5 times within two hours, it dries fast. The last coat I sprayed lightly from a bit larger distance to get a bit of textured finish, se pics.
After a couple of days I will put the glass strip in the freezer and bend it cold to see If it can take that. This looks very promising, but how it will keep after a year, well who knows.
I am posting a few pics.

I will keep you posted how it work out, now just a few hours after spraying it is hard and can be flexed severly. If you enlarge the pics you should see the texture clearly.

Very cool Bue and man I hope it passes the cold test

After 12 hours in the freezer at -18 Celsius 0 Fahrenheit I flexed both the bamboo and glassfiber strip severly and repeatedly. Nothing happened to the wheel finish, no cracking. So I guess it is okay, as Roy would say.
Let us hope it stays that way.

Good to hear bue.

I used the wheel finish on my bow.  Seams like a very hard finish. But I'm not taking any rocks or hammers to it.

I can't believe that you guys paint your bows with high tech paint. 1 million Indians just rolled over in their graves...  What ever happened to bear or beaver fat?   :)

Roy I can't get near them to kill one due to the smell of my bow. $8.95 for the VHT I think
