For a fellow tradgang'er
« on: August 30, 2017, 11:23:00 AM »
Made this 3 piece for Ryan Martin (CRM95)
Claro walnut and figured maple riser, Birdseye maple on back, walnut burl on belly, moose antler overlays on riser and limb butts, and deer antler on tips from a buck that Ryan's dad shot.   64" bow and 49#@29".  Shelf is cut 3/16" past center.
Hope he likes it!

I like to go 1/4" past.
It's more work and wider riser.

Really nice, good job.

I really like the style and line of your riser nice and lean. Very good work beautiful looking bow.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

That looks sharp Randy!  I have firsthand experience with your bows and I gotta say they shoot as slick as they look.  Fantastic job man!  Can't wait to get mine back too   :archer:

Hot, Sharp and Sexy Bow...  I hate to be the bummer guy but your accents are ending at a very high stress point in the riser...

Yes sir, that's one reason I back the riser with a piece of 1/16" g10. That gives a little piece of mind... just a little! Lol
I won't do that accent in a bow over 55# at any given length just to be on the safe side.
I did a mock up riser just like it with some old walnut I had laying around and I hung it from a rafter by the throat of the grip and I was able to hang my whole body weight from it, (225#) . I even did a pull up!! Just 1!

Well done! It's great to see a fine specimen of beautiful domestic wood being used.

Is that cork you used between the limb and the riser?  Also, did you glue it on after the pictures where the limbs are not attached to the riser or are they loose pieces?
Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

Yes it is cork, and I did glue it to the limb butts after pic. I also noticed that it wasn't trimmed to fit in the pic!! Lol
