Sinew with snake skin
« on: October 16, 2017, 07:23:00 PM »
Hello all - I am nearing the final stages of a bay laurel selfbow - a wide short thing that I sinewed. It is floor tillered.  I have boa skins for it from an old friend (the snake).  My question is about how far to proceed with the tillering before I apply the skins?  the skins are thick but not quite like the rawhide I have seen so do I have to think about that as a tillering factor?  By the way the bay laurel smells great when you scrape it!  It is very light and flexible - part of me wonders if I am in danger of over powering it with the backing. I know this is no fun without pictures.  I will try to get some posted.
