Nice combo on that takedown

Got my bow sanded and ready for finish.    :)
Now I just need to decide on what to use

Thinking I’m gonna try automotive clear in the hvlp since I already have everything. But I may get some flex additive  to Put in it.

If I had a spray rig I'd would use T-bird.

Thinking about getting all set up so I can in the future.

Honestly, you can skip the flex additive.  I've finished tons of bows with automotive urethane and I've never had trouble with the finish cracking.

Shoot....  Hope I didn't just jinx myself.    ;)

I use Eastwood's European clear when I'm after a gloss fininsh and I use their Rat Rod satin for a matte finish.

I'm sure it's not an ultra premium product, but it works very well in my experience with it.

The gloss only comes in a gallon, but the satin can be had in a quart.  The quart of satin, plus the bottle of activator is about $50, plus shipping.

It's more expensive than hardware store polyurethanes, but it's still pretty reasonable.  I typically end up using about 3-4 oz per bow, so it's actually pretty economical.

I will probably try TBird in the future, but I already have some leftover auto clear. Might as well try it first.

I'd rather unwrap and deal with squeeze out than wonder about the glue joints.  :)

You could probably cut back a little, but while smooth on isn't cheap, neither is starting over!

Try those rubber/plastic things they spread body putty with.

I use a pc of lamination, 1/8 x 3/4 x 9 because I always have em around.  Down side is sanding splinters off all corners so they don't get in the glue.....
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Those are what I use. Cut them in half and get two outa one. Cheap enough to just throw away and not worry about cleaning.
