Been really busy in the shop. Got 4 bows going 2 in the finish booth and the others waiting to get in. Shot a set of OMC carbon limbs I recently made. They are really impressive and I don't seem to have stiff enough arrows for them.   :archer2:

It would be great to get some of the details on working with the woven carbon on recurves.  Stack height/weight, etc.  I've only worked with the Uni carbon on longbows so far.

I talked to OMC before I glued anything. They told me it will add 7-10 pounds but also depends on design. I made a stack based on a 40# formula ended up with a 60# bow. I narrowed the limbs just a bit and ended up with 55#. Now 55 is on the stiff side of what I like but it doesn't feel like 55. I have checked weight several times and the scale doesn't lie.

Did you pick up any performance with the carbon?

For the sake of clarity, when you calculated your stack did you use the stack for the 40# bow and then add the carbon, or did you use the 40# stack with the carbon included in the stack?

I used a 40#  limb stack and used the carbon in place of glass. I figured if it added 10# I would end up with a 50# bow.
The layup was. Carbon
                       Taper
                  Stable kore.
                    Veneer
                      Glass

As for performance it wouldn't shoot my 340 carbons set up for a 58#er. I had to cut an 1" off and lighten up the point. The stability of the limbs are awesome but I haven't chronograph it yet.

Got this bow to 21 inches with a 6.5" brace...

First time braced here in picture at 4.5 inches. Looks very even thus far.

Some really nice looking bows being made here - well done guys!

I got the grained filled on the riser on Roy's bow.  Should be able to spray it in the next few days.  Getting close Roy.

Enjoy the hunt!  - Mitch
