I am not sure I am ready for topless, thought I would keep with the bikini top. I have some maple with a bit of curl to it for the handles and will be going with maple cores. I will probably do spalted maple for one of them and curly maple for another. Once I make sure I can be successful on the form I will get in to some better looking woods.

I have thought about doing some accents on the handles but I have a question about that. How far away from the back of the handle should I keep the accents? Is a 1/4" enough or should I be farther than that? Does it really matter since they will be a composite? For now I will will just cut a nice arc on the swing jig and insert some inlays.

Nice bamboo. Too bad they won't ship here.
I spent a couple of hours touching up my broadheads. Pretty soon we'll be visiting with Bullwinkle.  :)

I've only been making shafting and arrows for about 3 years.  Steep learning curve..... ;)

Anyway, I finally decided to quit screwing around with the cheap, plastic Grayling fletching jig and upgrade to a Bitzenburger.  I bought right, left, and straight clamps as well as the nock receivers for each.

I put this together to house it all in one convenient location.

Yup...Ma-dack-ie Bamboo from  https://www.beautifulbamboo.com.
I started this morning to cut these poles down...but it's time for me to watch football with the wife.
I could use some guidance since I have never processed the full boo pole before. I intend to use the joiner and then a belt sander to flatten the rest of the way.

lignaphile,
I ordered what Roy told me to...kiln dried Madake bamboo, pronounced Ma-dack-ie. 3.5" X 6'.

The shop is amazing! I thank my lucky stars for this woodworking club. Some twenty five or so years ago a few woodworking hobbyists got the idea to pool their resources...now with a hundred and fifty members we have one hell of a nice shop.
I'm the only one attempting to make archery bows, but as I do other are getting interested.
It would be cool if woodworkers in others cities did the same, rent a building, pay regular dues and figure out how to best spend their moneys to build a shared super shops.

Those bows are true eye candy.  42# would work for me just fine :bigsmyl:.
