Skeater, I like the way that bow is shaping up. One of these days I'll have to try a takedown.

I wish I could but it will have to wait. There was a note in there along the lines of "call me son before you even think of touching her"....or something along those lines....takes me back to my dating days  :)

Wow, that Shredd just can't let go.   :biglaugh:

Can't wait to hear what his instructions are.  Probably something like "no snipe hunting".    :)

Got it pulled back to 50-52# at 26”. Now to sand and shoot in and she should settle in right at the numbers I’m after. Looks to be a nice smooth curve. At this point it has about 1/2” set at the 26” draw on the tree.

It shoots well even with those big tips. No idea of the speed yet, but it seems fairly quick with a 625gr arrow. There’s a bit of a thump at shorter draws but feels pretty good once you get past 26”. I shoot 26” so I had to stretch a bit to get 27” draws for most shots and a handful at 28” where it draws right at 50#. Now it’s time for some finish work. Set was right about 1”

I just wanted to touch base about an arrow rest on that slotted shelf...  Hope I did not talk your ear off, Tim...  Once I get started on something I am passionate about I can be a motor mouth...

Good thing it was a Lefty, I might have kept it for myself...    :)

LOL not at all man. I love talking bow designs. When I was designing mine, I would do all my F/D curves by hand including plotting in Excel, finding a matching curve formula and calculating the resulting potential energy and efficiency numbers out by hand using calculus lol so I'm with you on the scientific stuff. I can get lost in it but at the end of the day, its just a device that launches a projectile LOL. hopefully I can shoot tomorrow but we'll see. Rained all day and it sounds like a wind tunnel right now.

I’m wanting to do an overlay across the entire lever and essentially replace the lever tip with a different material before I round it out. My debate: Buffalo horn, African Blackwood, or white ash? I have an inclination towards one already, but would like some input.
I’m also leaning towards leaving the handle bare and inlaying parallel charcoal powder lines to indicate the arrow pass. Then making an India ink mark to show where to line up your middle finger when grabbing the bow. Either that or a leather wrap of either soft thin (probably goat) leather, or some thick/tough elephant leather. The bare handle would be closer to traditional as I don’t think the Vikings used handle wraps, like the old English warbows. But it’s not really a fully authentic version right as is.

Opinions?

Thanks,
Kyle

I am working a bit more on shaping the riser and finished the shelf. And of course I couldn't help but take a few shots. It's not horrible and considering I had no nocking point, coupled with the fact that I am horrible shot to begin with: I won't complain for a 14 yard group.

Go easy now, I told you I was a horrible shot.
