Skeater, are those the form alignment doohickeys that you made holding the target up.  :)

I got the riser shaped and sanded. It's currently got the first coat of finish on it and drying. I would like for it to be a bit slimmer but I suppose I will learn that in time.

It's bringing the grain out better than expected.

Just don't let my wife in on that.  I'm milking the old age thing hard. :)

It could be thinned out a bit but it's sleeker than many I've seen.

Sort of, I have another one that came out about 20 lbs under weight so I have been using it for a test dummy for all the stuff I needed to try on this one. However, in the process of that I got it up to 40 lbs after taking 3.5" off each limb.

Finished the form! I may have over-engineered it a bit    :biglaugh:
Today I learned a spade bit will seriously jack up some plywood if you drill straight through from one side.  Also, this form will probably survive the apocalypse.  I ended up going with 3/4" beech dowels spaced 2", 1.5" down from the face of the form.  Going to get my lams joined tonight and then its riser template time!

I had every intention of being done with pics until the bow was packed up and shipping out, but now that the first few coats of finish have dried and I got to see it assembled, I am really pleased and wanted to share. Mind you, it's still an amateur job, but I like it. I do wish the curl in the overlays was more prominent but you can at least make it out.

Now I have to start shooting it to make sure it don't spontaneously disassemble.

Looking purty sweet there Lonny...  Nice touch how you rounded off your tips on the belly side...  I think I may start doing that...  Plus a while back a friend mentioned if the tip of your limb hits something while shooting , it will prevent it from delaming...

I tried that once when I had a had a hole I needed to fill. Maybe it was the brand/type of epoxy but it ended being a very pliable rubber like substance when it cured.

Just a few more coats of truoil and the Viking bow will be done. Just got give the ink a day or two to dry first. It’s got one coat of try oil on top of a rubbed in coat of linseed right now. I plan on 6-10 more coats of tru oil. I left out the signatures from the picture. But I marked the center point on te back with the horns of Odinand the belly side with the Jumis symbol. Then My little raccoon under all of it. Once it’s dry I’ll shoot it a bit more then send it on it’s way.
