My hat is off to Kelly. I seem to have trouble staying organized with this swap, and he did it for years with much bigger groups!

Anyhow, right now I have the following stats:
19 total participants
9 bows have been received
4 are being shipped (or about to be)
-All bowyers who had been told to hold should have been given clearance to ship by now.
That leaves 6 still in progress, including mine. I plan to spray later today or tomorrow. I've emailed a couple folks to ask that they post up some progress pics as we haven't heard from them for awhile.

With the first deadline in front of us, all first time participants have now shipped or have just been given the ok to ship and have been waiting patiently to do so. Well done guys! Now we just need the rest of the old-timers including myself to get theirs wrapped up and in the mail prior to the second deadline. Would be great if we had no one go into the grace period. (hint hint)

well the first bow has been shelved. after roughing out limbs and getting the tape off the dreaded streaky glass strikes again. just didn't want to ship that. so I switched gears and decided to build a new bow. going with my second favorite...superaction gray riser and black glass limbs. riser is done and both limbs glued up. should be ready to ship next week. I'm really starting to hate clear glass

I got home from state track late last night and my wife had a package propped against the front door. Dannon, I am wowed, I think the best part of this bow swap is getting to see the creativity you all have! Great color choices, perfect for hunting! I took it out today with the family, I was dreaming that I might see a bear and get to post some hero pics with your bow and a spring black bear. My kids made sure there were no bears within shouting distance, but got to test her out! What a great shooter! Smooth and silent! Jake

Finally got some pics of the bow jdeitz10 made me. She's a good shooter, might stack slightly at my draw but not to bad. Shoots full length G/T 400s like darts. I like the green glass. Jacob, what is the wood in the handle? Thanks building it for me!

Travis, the riser is mahogany, hard maple in the limbs. It is a fast shooter, any suggestions on stack? I think I need to work on a better taper for the limbs.

Dannon, all positive on your bow, I might be a little long limbed for a 56" bow, I generally go no shorter than 62" not a complaint, just getting used to a shorter bow.

Jacob, the bottom 1/3 of the limb looks to be doing most of the work. You could taper your limbs more or add more taper to your lams. Its putting a lot of pressure on the fades, it makes me a little nervous shooting it at my draw. I think it would have less hand shock also if you get those limbs bending more, the top half of the limb is slamming forward all at once now giving it fair amount of hand shock. If you sand your bow form with a hand block and get it as true as you can making sure to keep it square then give it a coat of body filler and sand again it will get rid of the waves in your limbs. Use coarse paper, either 36 or 40 grit and it will be easier to get it true. The top limb has a curve in it when looking at the back of the bow, if you make a limb template with a square side that's true at the butt end of the limb and your limb taper above that you can line the true edge up with your squared riser, trace your limb profile on that side. Now flip the template over and repeat, If your riser is square you'll have a perfect limb profile. Hope all this didn't confuse you. These are just my opinions and I'm wrong a lot so if you guys see anything I'm wrong on feel free to correct me.

Very helpful, I am hunting with this design now, with heavier wood there is less shock, that one does have a phenolic I beam to help. This summer I am going back to the drawing board.

DISASTER!!!

Today I stripped tape off to start final sanding and round the corners. Now, before I proceed, understand that I had stripped off all the tape when it came out of the oven. Everything was hunky dory. I retaped to protect the glass and when I took it off today this jumped out at me.

Wish I could say they are only scratches or streaks, but they are cracks. Haven't figured out yet what caused them but it's a sure thing it can't go to my victim. Soooo... It's start over time. :(

That stinks Mike.
I had same thing on my last bow. But I think I did mine prying the bow off the form(had a lot of squeeze out). Fortunately mine were close enough to the edge that they came out when I profiled the limbs.

i am building bow for a sometime but i can not say that i am building eagerly since i can only work at weekends after playing / spending sometime with my kids (which is the only time that i can do this).
i know that the bows that i built are not perfect but i guess it is good enough. well mate here is your bow and mandatory pictures. i hope (

who knows who will receive it, right?
those are the only pics that i have with full draw. but i have post pictures in a lot to this thread.
i have shot some arrows with this bow. i felt no disturbance. arrows fly nicely.
i have put "luminescent" logo (3d printed) on upper limb. if you expose it to a light for 15-20 secs it will glow all night. (btw: i am not sure if this is something good or bad)
and put string stopper to both limbs for which not to damage the limbs.

well, let see how receiver will react.
