First hickory bow
« on: January 25, 2018, 11:22:00 AM »
Hello Guys, finished this hickory bow. #58 @28 67 t2t, 1 3/8 wide for 8 inches tapering to .5 tips. Riser is 14 inches 12 inches of cedar sitting on 13/16 of hickory 7/8 wide 1 5/8 deep, fades are 4 inches. Gizmo and yard stick says its good and it shoots nice so far, no hand shock puts em were I'm looking. Sealed it with mineral oil and a lil charcoal plain Jane nothing fancy its a hunting bow not a ceremonial bow.

Awesome John!  I like it.  Came out nice. And the tiller looks great.  Hickory is tough, it should last a long time.

Finally used that cedar....It should work fine in that setup where your fades start on the hickory.

BMorv yes I did! That's why I made it that way and explained it before someone chimed in about it. But according to my slide rule and lengthy investigations it would have been fine anyway. Darn sure couldn't have it blow up, Roy would have a field day with me then.

Nice - looks like it is bending like it is supposed to!  And it looks purty to me.

I am a bit confused on the flipped pictures though!

You must be right - a mirror image will do that.  Right or left, the bow looks good!
