Oregon Myrtle?

Anyone tried Oregon Myrtle (not Crepe Myrtle) for a self bow?  How does it compare to say Maple?

The only thing I know about Myrtle is from a piece I got yesterday for a riser.  It seems to me to be somewhat similar to maple but maybe not as dense?

Probably going to be all about grain orientation.

Hard maple runs 1150-1400 Janka hardness, and Oregon Myrtle runs an average of 1250 Janka
