guidance on photobucket ?
« on: February 05, 2013, 10:32:00 PM »
Do we have any guidance somewhere on how to troubleshoot photobucket ?

I just entered three ads in the classifieds.  Two went well, the third, although I resized the photos the same way, are still oversized. (Photbucket claims they are 640 wide).  Once I used Google Chrome it seemed easy.  I tried to redo the whole thing and the second take was also oversized.

For the computer unsavy. .  what gives ?

Use the old version.  I don't think the new allows you to force the image size.

I had trouble with the new photobucket and went back to the old version. In reading their FAQs, I saw that changes to your photobucket account (resizing was an example, I believe) could take up to 30 minutes to become permanent and reflected in your profile.

In going back to the old version, I do the auto resize upon upload and have had no more problems.

I use the old version too, but I size pics with Paintshop before uploading to PB. Probably not the simplest way, but my pics are always the right size when posted.

In 28 days they are phasing out the old and bringing in the new permanently   :banghead:

They have a lot of bugs to work out in the new photobucket.

I believe under the technology section, there is another option callied imur? something.

I would agree sizing your photos first would be a good way to go.

Just about any new or newer digital camera has a setting with in it to take pictures of the size needed, and you don't have to resize them at all.  Just a thought.

Use the old version. I use my cell phone for all my pics. It is factory set to produce a 640 X 480 image. I'll tell you what I did,I got peeved that I could not post images here. Others could. I took a couple hours one day,and just tried, and tried until I got it down pat. Another tip, open 2 tabs up top. 1 for TG,1 for Photobucket. Don't give up,and follow all relavant prompts while your navigating. YOU CAN DO IT!! rat'

Well I thought I had it figured out but once again photobucket has changed something.

For 3 weeks it was so simple. Load the pictures from my Iphone. Go to PB and click on the picture I wanted. Click on links. Copy then paste it here.

Picture would show as a picture. Last night clicked on links tried to copy nothing happened. Messed around clinking on stuff and finally got it to copy. Pasted it and just got a scribble of red letters you have to click on to see the picture.

Any suggestions to what happened?

ChuckC, I resize my photos in "paint" before I even upload them to photobucket.  I only use photobucket to get the link to attach.

Sure hope someone smarter than me can post an easy way to move my pics from the old to the new.

I've got a bucket load of pics in the old and sure don't want to loose any of them.

I opened a new account in the new PB, but not able to totally understand how to move everything over.

They automatically will move over. No need to do anything. You should have just left your pictures in the old account and they would have moved over to the new.

Looks like the mods here removed all my photos from the three ads I posted so evidently all three groups were not up to snuff, even though the edited photos in Photobucket stated that they were 640  wide.

So how do I fix that ?

Not complaining about our mods,  rules are rules, but the photobucket editor showed my pix were 640, that's why I posted them.

Confused

Use   hunt101  .  Just ignore the dating service banner on the top.  easy to use and the medium image fits the requirements of the mods.

I'm having trouble as well and have been doing it for three years. I do check my posts that have pictures with "Preview Post" and then I right click (PC)the picture to check the size. Even though photo bucket says they are 640, some remain the original unedited size.

This is from the new Photobucket. I just switched over. On my picture albums, the individual pics, there is a little icon in the upper right corner that looks like a small sprocket or gear. Click on that, and a list of options appears. Go to where it says GET LINKS.
Click it. Then left click on the option that says
IMG codes (for forums etc) that will store the image. In the TG message box you type in as I am now, right click and select "paste" you should be in business then. rat'

Did all those things (in photobucket editor).

One good point I just now learned was the ability to right click on the photo within the "preview" mode here to see the size of the photo.

That will help me a bunch, thanks.

At least I will now know before I hit the button exactly what came across to the post, no matter what the photobucket editor says..
