Non-Carbon Longbows Performance
« on: March 12, 2008, 01:20:00 AM »
Of all the non-carbon longbows out there,,, which do you consider the best performer?

I have been looking at the T-Hawks (both with and without carbon), Shrews (someone tell me why I sold mines again?), Treadways and Thundersticks,,, especially the MOAB! I know there's tons more out there but these are the ones that have caught my eye,,, again.

Check out the Cari-Bow Peregrine.
I reviewed one last year in my trad reviews.

i got Mr. Penner to make me a custom Peregrine after Mr. Wards review came out.  i already had a couple of Cari-bows so i knew it would be a good bow. i have a couple of "carbon" bows to compare it to...all subjective..no chronographs..& subjectively it shoots as fast or as hard hitting as my carbon bows.  i've never had any of the other bows you mentioned so i can't offer an opinion.

I really like Treadway Longbows. Great shooting bows at a very affordable price. You can't go wrong with a bow from Mike.

I believe my best performing longbow without carbon would be my Matlock Predator X.Pound for pound it is faster then my other longbows. It just has bamboo limbs, good shooter and good performer.

"Non-carbon longbow?"  I thought most of them were 8^).   I've never shot a carbon limbed longbow.  I really like the Liberty "non-carbon."

A longbow with narrow thick limbs dose not need carbon.
Carbon is primarily used to stabalize a bow limb, not make them faster...
When I orderd my bow from Gary Sentman I ask him about the carbon, and he told me to save my $80 it's not needed....

Check out Toelke Whips...  Call Dan about them - extremely fast.
Getting older I tend to talk to myself but, at least I know that I am as smart as the one I am talking to.

I have shot a lot of the bows already mentioned and I think my Wes Wallace "Royal" will more than hold it`s own.

Give herb meland a call with Pronghorn bows. I think they rate up with the best of the longbows out there.

My all glass Centaur was excellant in the performance category. In a more mild design the Hornes traditionalist with bamboo limbs really spits em out good.
