Fallow Buck

First ever buck and first kill with my 54#@28" PCH Widow.
A 535gn CX Heritage 250 with a Magnus two blade did the business.
Twenty metre shot down in fifty.

Can you share more about the hunt?  Was this big fella bugling/roaring?  Did you call him in OR spot and stalk OR set an ambush?

was the total arrow weight WITH the broadhead 535 or was it 535 just in the arrow plus the broadhead?

This is only a pup as far as fallow go over here though I am very happy to have taken him.

I was stalking through an area that had plenty of sign in the form of scrapes and rubs, when I bumped a much larger antlered menial fallow out of his bed, along with a doe that he was with.  They are rutting here at the moment so the big fella stayed with the doe who didn't bolt and they both hung off at about sixty metres. Fallow bucks can be called in at times in the rut so I gave a few doe calls to try and entice him in and he showed little interest.  Tried plan b and gave a couple of croaking grunts and still the big fella showed no real interest but the black fallow in the picture jumped up from a little higher up on the ridge. A couple more grunts and he started to trot in thrashing a bush on the way and was more than curious as to the poor, sick sounding buck grunts coming from the bloke in the blaze orange hat.  He was a little cautious and stopped and stared at me several times but I was on my knees with good cover behind me so I guess I was hard to make out. When he disappeared into some thick tea tree about thirty metres out I could see an opening into the clearing I was in and thought this  would be where he would emerge.  I was able to turn my body position slightly in readiness for a shot.  He poked his head out first and then took a few more steps and presented a shot which ended up a winner.  The other big buck actually stayed around for a few minutes after the sound of the shot and despite seeing the other deer crash to the ground. The wind finally gave me up and they were off.  
It was a great little hunt.

That weight is total including the 125gn broadhead.

Hey Tom, well done, that is a nice looking animal (the deer)  :D  , was it a pre work adventure ? By the way , we kicked a few goals at the Fryingpan the week I was up there.
