Shot an elk with a longbow Sept 3rd 2010. It was only my 3rd elk ever and first with a longbow. 27 yard shot, 27 yard recovery. Great Plains Longbow 55 at 28", arrow was a Trad Only 300, with a Woodsman Elite 250gr head for 600 gr total arrow weight. You can read about the hunt here:
