1st trad kill 1st post
« on: October 12, 2010, 10:51:00 PM »
I would like to say thanks to Robhunter for getting me back into the archery dept. I have been out of the game in archery for about 2 1/2yrs. My freind hooked me up with a flemish string for a old bear grizzly I had and got me back to shooting. Only about two weeks back into shooting I buy a Centaur longbow from him and shot it pretty well. So about two weeks after I buy the bow I took it on my 1st day hunting and shoot my first doe with trad equip. I hit her right behind the front shoulder and it exited the far shoulder and clipped the bottom of the pump station. She made the mad dash and pilled up in sight at about 70yds. Shot was pushing 30yds in the foodplot. Just a good mature doe that will eat well. The hunt was opening weekend for muzzleloader here in GA, date of harvest 10/10/10

equip. list
Centaur Chimera 60" 50# @28
GT 5575 490gr w/ broadhead
Magnus 125gr 2 blade

Sorry for the bad cellphone pics but I am proud to say the least.

Good for you, i would be proud to, since the only thing I harvested with my bow so far are grouses.
Next season I will devote all my moose hunting to trad gear...
nice doe!
Cheers

Congrats on your first!
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Truly awesome!
TGMM-Family of the Bow

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow’s effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

Thanks for the warm welcome. I shot a lot of ASA 3d shoots and got burned out on compounds. I have always wanted to go traditional just a little  scared. A whole new fire has been lit and is almost uncontrolable. I don't ever see my self stepping away from trad gear. Anyway thanks for all the great comments
