for the last 2 years i've had the absolute worst luck. this year things have changed ALOT. i have been in the woods 4 times and have had shot oppurtunities every time..
today, we got in the woods at o'dark thirty and got settled in. we had a buck chasing a doe in the dark and gone in no time. as you all new yorkers know, we got hammered with rain. today finally let up and we had a few hours of no rain and it was very very damp. i got a chill and stood up and looked around and there he was... a decent buck standing not 10 steps away. he had no idea in the world i was there. i grabbed my zona custom recuve and picked a spot and drew, i got to my anchor, took a deep breath, and the release came subconciously. i watched the arrow zip through the buck EXACTLY where i was looking. the beman arrow and magnus 2 blade broadhead went through him like a hot knife through butter. the buck hopped and leg kicked and walked 15 feet and looked back to what spooked him. i watched as blood was pouring out of the exit wound and he got wobbly and fell over. not a giant deer but my 2nd deer with a recurve. a nice 2.5 year old "9" point if you count the 1" points at his bases, if not, he's a 6pt, 130lbs dressed.
