Short blood trail
« on: October 16, 2012, 08:35:00 AM »
Well, I couldn't help myself last night. I checked the wind and decided on a stand as I was walking out last night. Come to find out, there's a guest on the property who decided to park his quad about 30yds from one of my stands on the edge of a food plot that I planted for the landowner. Already aggravated, I got into my stand overlooking a trail leading to a radish food plot that I've had lots of activity in.

About 30 minutes later this big doe snuck along the trail towards the plot, sniffing every overhanging twig on the way in. She stopped perfectly at 18yds and I zapped her with a AD Trad Lite with a Centaur Big Game head. It passed through her and I watched her tip over about 75yds away. She weighed 125lbs field dressed. My two little boys (5 & 8yrs) have taken deer this year so this marks the first year that we've all been able to hunt and tag deer. What a year and it's only began! Oh, and who says a pretty bow can't kill animals?

She walked right down this trail and stopped in the opening perfectly

Gotta love a blood trail in your food plot!

Great blood trail, love these broadheads

I watched her tip over backwards into this log

Those pics are nice, is that the first time you've been behind a camera?  :D    ;)  Those Longwalkers are great bows and it sure looks like you have the right set-up(equipment and food plot). Congratulations Gabe,

Nice job Gabe!!  Any chance you got it on film for MOOD TV?  Love seeing trad bowhunting on TV but it's few and far between.

Congrats! How do you sharpen those broadheads? I won some a few years ago but have never used them.

Thanks guys. I had just got back from deer camp in Grayling this past weekend and a buddy borrowed my tree arm so I couldn't tape that evening (no camera guy) unfortunately. Wouldn't you know, besides rainy days, it's the only day I haven't had the camera along with me. Oh well.

But, I've got quite a bit of good hunting footage so far this year. Hope to get a good kill on camera here shortly. I'll try to let everyone know if it works out.
