My buddy and I shot a pair of Swans with our bows this morning. Its a boat load of fun, and they sure were challenging targets in the 15-20 mph winds. Enjoy.

Yeah, near Pungo. I was worried that it was going to be too hot, but they flew well for about 90 minutes. I think the high winds helped as most of the flocks flew lower than normal. I took my Dad, Brother, Nephew and son last Monday and they all tagged out with the bang sticks. I shot 11 or 12 times but didn't hit one. Came mighty close several times though. The wind had them slowed up some so they were a little more in my wheel house this morning. My buddy killed his on his first shot. He is a absolute beast with that Zipper, or his Hill, or his Kodiak Mag. A natural I guess you'd say. I had to work a little harder for mine.

Great stuff, congrats.Cant hunt them in NY yet but Im starting to see quite a few in eastern NY along with sandhill cranes. Maybe one day.

Have you tried using their feathers for fletchings? If so, how do they do?

I don't have the knowledge or tools to make my own feathers, but I'd be glad to send the wings to anyone that would like to try it. I'm new to the whole do it yourself traditional archery stuff.

I've plucked them, roasted them (tightly wrapped, low and slow), let them cool, and sliced thinly. Very good and addresses the fact that they can be tough and dry.
