Last night was really windy and I wasn't sure if I wanted head to the stand or not. I decided I'd go, after all, it's still fun even if you don't see anything. Within a few minutes of getting set up I had a doe and two yearlings run past my stand. I think they were spooky with the strong and swirling winds. About a half hour later deer started running around all over and I counted somewhere around 10 of them, all does and yearlings. I had two go past but one ended up coming back. It stopped behind some trees and I didn't have a shot. There was an opening just a few feet forward of where it stopped and I hoped it would take a few more steps. I kept looking around because deer where still moving around close to my stand. When I looked back this doe took the few more steps that I needed and I was able to make a great 25 yard shot. She ran about 70 yards and was down. Of course she had to go through a bunch of burrs, so I'll be picking those off my wool hunting clothes for the next few days. I'm shooting a 45# Thunderstick Mag, 180gr German Kinetics Silver Flame XLs, and Carbon Express 150s. I was able to get the shot on video using a gopro camera. The plan is to now try and film my brother hunting and hunt waterfowl until the rut gets here in Iowa.
Here's the video
