Whitetail Chaser

WRT the noise.  Don't be afraid to put the brace height at the high end of what BW recommends.  I have my 60 inch SA bows all set at 9 inches and it works wonders for getting rid of the noise.  The loss in performance will be so negligible that you won't be able to measure it.  But the loss in noise will be dramatic.

Let us know how it works out.

My Widow showed up today as well!

I bought mine used out of the clasifieds. PMA-II.

Congrats to you as that is one fine bow!

Sweet looking wood there Whitetail Chaser.  Awesome looking, specially the limbs.

Regarding the noise.  I set my bows at 8 5/8 brace height, put one pair of catwhiskers (cut in half) and place one at 9" and one at 13" from each loop.  My arrows are about 10gpp and my bow is as quiet as most every recurve I've shot...Mike

Whitetail Chaser,
For a quieter recurve; try Trad Gang Bow Hush/Hush Puppy stuff, 3River pads at the limb recurves plus brace height tweaking, the combination of which should make your pretty bow pretty quiet!(like a self-bow LOL!).

It worked wonders on my old Morrison 'curve ('99 model)!

One way I found to really cut the noise is to make your own string and pad the loops.  If you make a 14 strand string put 28 strands in the loops.  This, and playing with the brace height, got my SAIII whisper quiet.

Just when I've convinced myself to go one more season with my 18 year old MAII, somebody has to post pics of a new Widow.  Thanks a lot  :)

I know theyre not the prettiest things but maybe you can try limb savers.I used them with great success on a Bamboo viper and Zipper recurve.I put mine where the string meet the limb and did not observe any difference in accuracy or speed.Again, thats a very nice bow you have there.

Hi Brett,

We expect to see that pretty thing at the Moses Lake shoot in April.  With all that rocky terrain over there, it will probably get a few "character" marks.   :bigsmyl:

Like that Kingwood!

I second the higher brace height. I use the bow hush and hush puppies and started with 8 1/4 brace height, turning one turn at a time until I got to 8 5/8, or roughly one turn above 8.5. Now the bow is sooooo quiet is really is amazing.

Im gonna say try the limbsavers.  Works great on my bows. I dont think they are two ugly. No uglier than bush buttons.  I also put them where they just touch the string at brace.  I got a widow on order that I think I am gonna try the smaller limb savers on.  Also alot of noise is caused from the string wax.  That should settle out the first couple shoots in the summer hot weather. I still wax the loops just not as heavily as the rest of the string.

Beautiful bow.  Enjoy it

I usually set my braceheight between 83/8 to 85/8,on my widows and put my silencers measuring from where the string contacts the limb, first one at 81/2 in. second at 111/2 inches, Bows are quiet shooting arrows 9grs and up. Tested in my basement to avoid any outside  problems. If its queit indoors I doubt if it's noisey outdoors.

Beautiful bow!!! I bought from a guy who didn't like the way it shot-harsh and noisy- both sets of limbs had 7-71/2 brace ht.- changed them to 9" and didn't even use silencers after that.Sold it before I got to use it!
