First year a friend took me to his lease across from Blackwater Refuge a small hind showed up in front of me... like a super charged water spider the way it kept moving around...

Finally got a shot and killed the thing. I could have put it in a game bag of a game coat... but as you say, great eating.

Next year we hunted Blackwater right off and I had a much larger spike come in... got that... long drag on my cart.  Buddy shot a nice 5pt...we tracked that for a long, long time thru the swamp and finally got it.  

Amazing how good that flesh is on the table!
