Filled a Doe Tag
« on: September 25, 2015, 10:15:00 PM »

In Maryland you can take a bonus buck after taking two doe.  If given a good chance I try to take a could early to get em out of the way.  I have a couple non hunting friends at work that love venison so this evening when this mature doe gave me an 18 yard shot I took it.  Took her with my #43 Big River.

Funny story on my recovery.  Took my face mask off and glasses went or a ride and I looked like crazy and could not find them in the leaves.  I can see without them but looking for blood in the fading light is a little difficult.  Luckily the blood trail was wide enough to follow.  Eventually found the glasses.

Point on systems working well so far.  Been shooting a little instinctive also cause at times its hard to see the point.  Downside to that method.

Tracker,

Put a wrap of white electrical tape around the front of your shaft just behind the broadheads. Do the same to a few field tipped arrows as well, and practice a few shots to ensure your hold points haven't changed using the white band.

Use the white band as your focus point for where you place it on the target. You can shoot much better in low light. It's quick and easy to replace and freshen up on your practice arrows, and it also guarantees that your reference points don't change from broadheads to field tips regardless of the length differences.

Thanks for the tip.  I'll give it a try.  I actually cut a white wrap I have 1/4 and put it around the arrow.  Works great.  Just need to take to to the range and see how it works.  Should be fine.  I usually concentrate on my brass inserts when it is bright out.
