I went to the place I hunt here in town this morning. I did not have a lot of hopes because they are building a strip center next door, and a crew of cedar cutters just got done after more than two weeks on the place (you can see all the cedar mulch on the ground in the pic). About 30 minutes after sunrise, a few deer came in, and this guy was with them.
I don't know how old he is, but he was a bruiser, body-wise! Shot him at 13yds and watched him fall at 50-60yds!
When I walked up to him, I was looking at the exit side, and saw a hole really high. The entrance hole was in the armpit, and I was flabbergasted thinking that he could have moved enough to make my exit that high! After further inspection, I discovered he had been shot in the backstrap very recently. There were 2 sets of entrance and exit holes!
The lower hole is my entrance hole. The upper hole was made by a 3-blade, and center punched both backstraps!
I found out just a while ago that a guy on the next place had shot him yesterday evening, and could not find him!
I had no clue he had been wounded before until I walked up to him after I shot him! They sure are some tough critters!
Have I ever told y'all that I love to hunt with my longbow?
