After a full weekend of fishing at the coast, I was pretty sleepy and wanted to drive back to my home and rest. The female thought differently and insisted I drive her to the ranch (an hour and a half past my home, but closer to her home) for more "quality time" together. Figured if I as gonna do that, I might as well stay and hunt. So stay and hunt I did. My parents picked her up from the ranch and I went and checked the game cams at the two feeders we have going. With only a couple instances of day pigs in the past week, I knew it was most likely going to be a night sit. I was in the tree by 6, feeder went off at 7,and it was dark by 8:15? Then the night hunting began. Keep in mind that this was Sunday night, so I have to be at work an hour and a half away in the morning. I told myself I was only going to sit until 9, but when 9 rolled around, I changed drop-dead to 9:30. At 9:28 the pigs came splashing through the tank and up to my karn. I turned on my bow light, picked out the biggest sow, and let her rip. Missed! But they came back for more. For my second go round I picked a spot, drew, "re-aimed" as my brother and I say, and let her have it. Right in the ol' heart. By the time I got my meat all taken care of and cleaned up, it was midnight. I was back at my home at 1:45, and needless to say it was a long day of work yesterday. I now am blessed to have the opportunity to write this drawn out and detailed story about a very average pig kill because I did too much over the weekend and have fallen ill. Keeping me home from work and freeing up a day to Trad Gang my heart out.
