Syringa Gull Wing Bow
« on: March 18, 2008, 09:38:00 PM »
This is a Sturgeon backed Syringa Gull wing bow.  It's 68" NTN and 56# at 28"   Sturgeon skin backing with elk antler tips.  This stave started with a very severe reflex right at the handle as well as a beautifull arrow pass offset. I didn't know if I could tame this one to keep it from twisting in the hand. So to start I heat deflexed the limbs right at the fades to tame the reflex a little. Here are the results.     Keenan

That's a beauty, for sure.

Quite distinctive, to say the least. Hope she is sweet as she looks.

Thanks Woodduck. It is a sweet shooter, I tend to like making shorter bows but this one is a butter smooth draw and very forgiving. Keenan

I think sturgeon backed bows are awesome. What are the grooves on the belly of your bow?

Thank you everyone.  Owlbait, the groves are from the pith core.
I split the stave right down the center. Keenan
