Hornes Tradisionalist no pics til tomorrow
« on: March 19, 2008, 01:33:00 AM »
Just purchased this bow and all I can say is at 54# this is too heavy for me. 5575s' 28 1/2"  with 275 up front just penetrates the target, but no control.
From 15 yards my groups of 9 were all over the board.
I'm not used to this.
I'll wake up in the morn and try a different combination in the AM.
Maybe I best get back on the Bowflex?

Why would you buy a bow that is too heavy, is this the first stick bow you have shot/bought???

The 5575 is too stiff, you will have to put a lot more weight up front, or longer arrow.

Fred I have a 64"er, 53#s @ 28"s, 50@ my 27" draw.I shoot 28" long Blackhawk Vapor Carbonwood 3000's  out of mine, 250 grains up front. She also likes 35/55 Gold Tip trads with 250 grains cut to 27 3/4"s. Yes it smokes an arrow AND penetration is unreal. You need two hands and two feet to pull the arrows out. See if you can trade someone for a lighter one. Mine is my go to bow .How do you like that grip/riser on her though? Constant hand placement. Do you have a true 28" draw? What cores; maple or boo? I have Maple.I enjoy the Hec out of mine.

I've been shooting both LB's and Recurves in the 50-55 range with no problem. The limbs are all boo unless somebody did a hell of a good job with an air brush.
The riser fits like a glove. And I was shooting 3355's and 5575's with 200-300 up front today. A bit more control, but my feeling is still that the bow was mismarked. It pulls hard and lets go fast.
I have and have had bows up to 64# and this one definitely feels closer to 60 than 50.
But I must mention after shooting it today, I kinda like it.

I'm going to have to break down and purchase a scale. No local shops. except we do have a Cabelas, 50 miles away. But then again that would almost seem like going to wallyworld!

Fred she's a beaut! Let me know if you want to swap! LOL! I would put her on a scale though. All Boo limbs and cocoabolla riser? Awesome bow!

I have to say Fred mine feels a little heavier than it is also. It must be the limb design. That bow had to run you around 725.00 correct?
