Osage Knot Crack
« on: March 26, 2018, 11:50:24 PM »
I'm looking to get some opinions on what I should do with this knot. A crack opened up after I drew the bow a few times. It had a small limb at the spot, looking back I should've leveled it off more. I think sinew will bridge up if I tried wrapping it.

Well the good thing is it's in the upper 1/3  of the limb  ,I had one with the similar issue others may do it differently but I used very thin CA glue in the crack and put a  comb Flax tapering patch on  & covered the whole back with goat raw hide , that comb flax is really strong patch  I used TB 3 but I have a friend that uses smooth on when he does it for the patch & then TB 3 for the hide , I like that way better then a wrap as you can re tiller that area & it's stronger !
If you fear failure, you will never try ! But never except it!!

That happens a lot. I would suggest leaving more healthy wood around it next time. Its a bit thin on one side. You can try wrapping it. Or, just shoot it and see what happens.
